We have a lift off and a touch down!

mr. Himself at the airport, checking his email of course!

Well, here we are, to say that was an eventful flight is an understatement. First of all we had a delay of almost 3 hours without any explanation. Than the Lufthansa crew cut in line while we were all cueing for security. I mean, wat gives them the right to cut in? Can't they have their own check in point or just wait in line like the rest of us?

The seat on board were hard and uncomfortable, no personal tv screens and towards the end of the trip there was no coffee or tea available because we had run out of water. Just when you really could need a boost from caffeine! I think I will have to rethink my opinion about Lufthansa being a great company.

the most embarassing and obnoxious thing happened when we were leaving the airplane. Because I can't walk very long stretches out stand for very long I need a wheelchair to get from point A to point B without fainting. The flight was late so there was no gate available for us and me and another person had to wait till the wheelchairs were going to arrive.

The head stewardess(purser?) aksed the other woman in a very snotty tone why she needed a wheelchair because she could walk, she saw her walk. The woman was stunned and I felt embarassed as well as if she was speaking to me in that tone. Well what is the matter, said the stewardess, do you not speak English? 'Yes I do I'm American' the woman said. So answer me, the stewardess said, I don't understand why you would need a wheelchair. I thought; because it's not of your f*cking business! She went on and on about it and I just fled, I couldn't stand to listen to it any longer and didn't wait for the wheelchair. It was so embarassing! I'm going to write a complaint, what's up with these kind of people who think they don't need to apply the basic rules of politeness?

So that got us off at the wrong foot ;-)

On a brighter tone, the hotel is very nice, we're both flattened by jet lag.

Our daughter Lydia has arrived today and will stay for another 3 days. it's great to catch up with her!

Tomorrow we'll do some sightseeing and torte eating ;-)
